David Levine, Malta, NY Obituary. — April 9, 2025 — A 69-year-old man from Malta was fatally shot by New York State Police on Wednesday afternoon after opening fire outside a state police barracks in Saratoga County. Authorities have identified the suspect as David Levine, who was reportedly armed with a hunting-style rifle and began shooting from the parking lot of the barracks.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at the New York State Troopers’ Saratoga Barracks, located in Malta, approximately 30 miles north of Albany. According to an official statement from State Police, Levine stood in the parking area and discharged multiple rounds toward the barracks.
Troopers inside the building responded immediately upon hearing gunfire. They exited the facility and encountered Levine. Despite issuing multiple commands for him to drop his weapon, Levine allegedly failed to comply. Officers then engaged the suspect, fatally shooting him outside the building.
