Dearborn Heights Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide on 3900 block of Williams Street, near Dartmouth and Colgate streets, on Wednesday afternoon
Dearborn Heights, MI – April 9, 2025 — Authorities in Dearborn Heights are investigating a tragic incident that appears to be a murder-suicide involving a man and woman found dead from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on the city’s west side.
Police were called to the 3900 block of Williams Street, near Dartmouth and Colgate streets, on Wednesday afternoon following a report of an unresponsive person. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a grim and unsettling scene: a man and woman, both deceased, inside a vehicle parked in a residential garage.
Investigators believe the two individuals were in a relationship, though their identities have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The nature of their relationship, as well as the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter, are still under investigation.
Both victims appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. Authorities have not disclosed whether a weapon was recovered at the scene, but initial findings suggest the incident was likely a murder-suicide. At this time, no suspects are being sought.
As part of the investigation, multiple homes surrounding the residence were cordoned off with crime scene tape, and law enforcement remained on site into the evening. Forensic teams worked carefully inside the garage and surrounding property, while neighbors looked on with concern and sorrow.
“We are treating this as a domestic-related incident with indications pointing toward a murder-suicide,” a spokesperson for the Dearborn Heights Police Department said. “We want to reassure the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”
Neighbors expressed shock over the incident, describing the area as a typically quiet, close-knit community. “It’s unsettling,” said one resident who asked not to be named. “You never think something like this could happen right down the street. I feel terrible for the families involved.”
Police have not confirmed any prior reports of domestic disputes or calls to the residence in question, though those details may emerge as the investigation continues.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact Dearborn Heights Police. Grief counselors and victim support advocates are also being made available through local crisis response teams to assist anyone affected by the tragedy.
