Trumbull, CT — May 9, 2025 — The Trumbull community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Nate Yarusavage, a young life taken far too soon. Nate, a student at Madison Middle School, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2025, from an apparent suicide following a courageous and quiet battle with depression. He was the beloved son of Laura Fowler Yarusavage and Peter Yarusavage.
Nate was just beginning his journey through adolescence, a period often filled with growth, discovery, and challenges. To those who knew him, Nate was a bright and kind-hearted young boy whose presence brought joy and laughter to friends, family, and teachers alike. He was a loyal friend, a loving brother, a cherished grandson, and a deeply adored son.
His family has identified him as the young victim found dead from a self-inflicted injury earlier this week, in a tragedy that has sent waves of sorrow through the Trumbull community and beyond. In their profound grief, Nate’s parents have bravely chosen to speak about the circumstances of his death, shedding light on the reality of childhood and adolescent mental illness—an issue too often kept in the shadows.
“Depression doesn’t always look like sadness,” said a family friend. “Nate was full of life, but like so many others, he carried a weight no one could see.”
