Two Injured in Evening Shooting Near Wisdom High School in Houston
Houston, TX – April 9, 2025 — A shooting incident rocked a residential neighborhood near Wisdom High School earlier this evening, leaving two people injured and prompting a large-scale police response.
The shooting occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the 6500 block of Beverly Hill Street, just a few blocks south of the high school in the Sharpstown area. According to early reports, Houston Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the vicinity.
When first responders arrived, they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly stabilized and transported from the scene by Medic 60 to a local trauma center for treatment. His condition has not yet been officially released.
Shortly afterward, a second victim, a female with a gunshot wound to her leg, was located nearby. She was transported to Ben Taub Hospital by EMS. Authorities say her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The area around 6529 Beverly Hill Street remains cordoned off with crime scene tape as investigators work to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. A Houston Police Department helicopter was observed circling overhead, scanning the area in what appears to be a search for suspects or additional victims.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police have not disclosed a possible motive or confirmed whether the two victims were known to one another. Detectives from the HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence Division have been called to the scene and lead the investigation.
“We are still in the early stages of gathering information,” said an HPD spokesperson. “The scene is very active, and we are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or who may have surveillance video from the area to come forward.”
The shooting occurred just blocks from Wisdom High School, raising concerns among parents and students in the community. While the incident did not happen on school grounds, Houston ISD has been notified, and additional security patrols are being discussed in the area as a precaution.
Residents expressed fear and frustration at the violence that unfolded in their neighborhood. “It’s really scary,” said a woman who lives nearby. “We heard several shots, and then suddenly, there were sirens everywhere. It’s usually quiet around here.”
