URGENT: Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run on Plumstead Road, Woolwich

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck in a hit-and-run incident in Woolwich on Thursday evening, sparking widespread traffic delays and an active investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

The collision occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Plumstead Road (SE18), close to the busy Woolwich Elizabeth Line station. Authorities report that a motorcycle hit the individual and fled the scene without stopping to assist.

Emergency responders, including police units, paramedics, and traffic management teams, arrived swiftly. The injured person received immediate medical attention at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital. Their condition is currently listed as critical, and efforts are ongoing to notify their family.

Plumstead Road has been closed in both directions as police conduct a detailed investigation. The closure has resulted in severe traffic congestion, particularly near the Elizabeth Line station, with gridlock reported throughout the area.
